CNC Milling and Turning
CNC Milling
CNC (Computer Numeric Controlled) Milling is a subtractive machining process that uses a cutting tool rotating at high speed to remove material from a fixed workpiece. The tool is attached to a spindle and can move along three linear axes. A computer controls the tool used, rotation, speed, vertical movement of the spindle, and the horizontal movement of the table.
CNC Milling is a subtractive process. Precise shapes are created by removing or subtracting materials from the workpieces.
CNC machining processes get used widely across various industries, including medicine, aerospace, automotive, and consumer applications. LG Metalworks has decades of experience working with these industries and more.
Advantages of CNC Milling
Highly accurate repeatable process
Cost-effective for prototyping and short runs
High dimensional tolerances are possible
Great for creating custom, one-off parts
Great for recreating legacy parts
CNC Turning
CNC turning is another subtractive machining process where the workpiece is held in a chuck and rotated while the tool is fed into the workpiece to remove material. The device is programmed to trace the outer and inner shapes of the part to create the desired geometry. LG Metalworks uses a 2-Axis machine.
